When money is considered free speech, When dark money is acceptable, When corporations have the same rights as humans, When fund-raising is equated to candidate viability, When access to politicians is eased by money, When powerful corporate media companies advocate a candidate, We will never elect our best and brightest. 1. Publicly-funded campaigns only. 2. A short, well defined campaign period. 3. Media constrained to broadcast of actual candidates without opinion commentary 4. Election "holiday", so it is easy for everyone to vote. 5. Get rid of the antiquated and unnecessary electoral college.
