@kamalaharrisloveskneepads3229 How much oil had we been getting from Keystone when prices were lower?

@ZilogBob Why are our electric grids in such poor working order?
2
@mightygamerjames They lost big in 2020. They were under projections by $80 billion profit. They're making it up now though. They still export more than they import. 5 refineries shut down starting in January 2020. Profit is now going to the investors because they lost in 2020 instead of restarting the refineries. That's a big chunk of the higher prices.
2
@ZilogBob That is the problem in a nutshell. It's been a tightwire act by so many different systems which are patched together with chewing gum. My own state produces more electricity than we use, so we feed 5 other states. When our generation lags the other states have problems filling the gaps and scramble for their customers. It's always a dance because there is no storing generated current. Companies are always responsible not only to the customers, but also (and perhaps mainly) to their investors.

@nonameissafer.8457 So, in other words, opening Keystone would just be an appeasement to Big Oil. They don't really need the extra oil to lower prices because they never had any before...
2
@nonameissafer.8457 I just read a production report that the US still exports more oil than we import. Is this true?
2
@Mark Miwords I read that since January of 2020, 5 oil refineries have shut down across the US. Is this true? If so, why wouldn't Fox tell us that reason for the higher prices?
2
@ZilogBob Yeah, other places as well. Texas was having rolling brownouts, several east coast states too. The US grid is not a grid, it is grids. And a lot of them have just been patched together for decades. It's just dumb that it's so patchwork.
1
@spurhunter Yes. It's so patchwork right now, it's crazy. We've seen how fragile these systems can be and yet not much has been done.

David Ivoc I am not in California. But PG&E has been screwing customers for years. And the forests. It's just another f#@ked corporation.

5 refineries shut down starting in January 2020. How did Biden cause that to happen?
1
@gregorycraig4512 That is not an answer.
1
@gregorycraig4512 What is your answer then? How did Biden cause refineries which began shutdown in January 2020 to happen? Sure, we can say it's his problem, but how is it his fault?
1
How much oil were those pipelines producing when prices were lower?
1
Nationalize the oil companies!
1
@gregblake2764 How did Biden make 5 oil refineries, which began shutdown in January 2020 happen? I don't think he was president then.
