I'm thankful for the tremendous pushback that SCOTUS has caused/will cause this year. Some of the results have been seen already, with more to be seen in about 8-9 months from now. 😊

Debunked many times already. Reading is fundamental, reading factual content is an adult hobby.

What? Do you even read what you write?

I told you they should have passed the Senate bill. It would be better today. Any president can change another's EO, but he/she can't just change a law.

@davidmcneejr.977 Many who work/shop/school in the US traverse the border daily and return each evening. The Senate bill also gave new directives and authority to CPB to deny cetain asylum claims on the spot. I am almost certain we will not see a border security/immigration bill this conservative again anytime soon. There were concessions made by both parties, but all in all this bill would be a good start towards a true solution for security/immigration. Please get past the political blather and read the truth/facts about the bill.

@davidmcneejr.977 I would never just throw out a number to project how much this bill would reduce asylum claims/illegal crossings, but I can assure you it would control the flow and act as a deterrence to those who are considering the journey to the US. It would also be a law which no president could just change or ignore. Executive Orders are easily changed by the next president, as described by Mr. Jeh Johnson in the video.

@davidmcneejr.977 An encounter is an encounter. An encounter is anytime a CBP agent "encounters" a non-citizen. Read what CBP agents have to say about this bill. I think they understand things better than politicians and talk show hosts.

@ThePhenom777 I find it strange that yt allows disinformation like this to spread. Or perhaps they leave it to the channel owner to decide what supports their narrative. What is an encounter? Does every encounter result in release into the US? What other elements contained in the Senate bill would reduce encounter releaes further? What is a running average? How long is 7 days? This is your comprehension check.
1
@davidmcneejr.977 Sure. The number 5,000 is used as a 7 day marker-average of encounters allowed before the president has authority to shut down crossings. An encounter is anytime a border agent talks to a non-citizen. Encounters include the daily passage of non-citizens who work/shop/school in US border towns as well as those seeking asylum entry into the US.

@davidmcneejr.977 And outside of the number issue, the Senate bill also would have funded new agents and money, both of which are needed to deal with these ongoing surges. As Mr. Johnson suggests, we need long-term solutions not just stop-gaps to deal with what is an ongoing migrant surge. The bill alone is not that solution, but would have been a start. The next phase would include negotiations with Mexico to deal better with it on their end. We would also need to deal, as best we can, with destabilized nations within our own hemisphere (many of which we had a hand in destabilizing...read up on Operation Condor and Iran/Contra)

@davidmcneejr.977 Our border agents will encounter as many as they do, no matter the president. This is why I said that the bill is not the solution, but just the start. I also wrote a comment about destabilized nations in our hemisphere and our part in that, but it was bounced by yt. As for increased costs: the bill also funded removal of non-citizens instead of just housing them/confining them. It is not "Remain in Mexico" (which the Mexican government has declined recently), but it does fund return of migrants. We currently have migrant/asylum agreements we congressionally defined and signed onto in 1967 (and modified later) by which we must abide. These can again be modified, but only by Congress.

@davidmcneejr.977 There is no one single act, law, bill, or person who will solve this immigration issue fully. It will take many actions by many people and will cost what it costs. Singular loud moves might excite the crowd for a bit; true solutions include much grunt work by many and happen on many fronts.
