@bigtobacco1098 Two things: the working poor has for many many years paid a larger proportion of their income in taxes than the wealthy ever have. You honestly believe I will ever shed a tear for top end earners paying the highest marginal rates? Instead I shall tune my tiny violin to play a sad song for them... I was always curious about the slogan "great again" that was (stolen from Reagan) but also so undefined. My idea? The late 50s because of the economy (not so much for social reasons, but economically we did well). Booming industry and the strongest middle class the country has had, before or since. What did Eisenhower also institute? The most progressive personal income tax structure we've had coupled with high corporate taxes but with great allowances for reinvestment. Booming economy, huge middle class...the land of opportunity. In an average family a single wage earner could comfortably support a family of four, buy a house and build for retirement. Funny how the leaders of the maga movement never actually defined that nebulous idea nor those things which actually made it great. They left the interpretation to the imagination of the individual and this is what I chose. Then the era of the lawyers and well-paid lobbyist hit and we have devolved as a society since. We are certainly in the era of haves and have nots and the bottom end is squabbling for scraps. This never bodes well for the top end... You may imagine you are part of that top end or that you will join them some day, but reality says there is an infinitesimal chance this is true...

@dr.burtgummerfan439 Who was the last president to have a balanced budget? Why do Republicans only whine about spending money when a democrat is president. How fiscally conservative would you rate the previous president? Now, watch again as a truly fiscal conservative party reduces the debt.

@bigtobacco1098 Ooh, such an easy question: if we go for pizza and I get 90% of it then I owe for the 90% of the cost. But, because I'm grateful to be in a country which allows me to have pizza, I make sure everyone gets a piece of the pie. Why is that hard to understand? In this imaginary analogous story you have constructed, my input into the story is that none of us were raised by wolves.
