  2. We don't need to steer anyone anywhere, but we do need adequate funding for trade schools. And a different way to quantify success of the trade schools. There are many trades for which a diploma (a graduate, which is the means by which success is currently defined) means nothing. Many industries are more interested in what specific skills an individual has and those skills are oftentimes not described by a diploma. Funding for schools is usually based on numbers of graduates and many trade school students are more interested in skills attainment rather than a diploma.
