@fasttony6012 The generation before Laura's was complaining about her generation (and the education system) at the time. Do you think this is the first generation to complain about "kids these days" and "these liberal educators". It's a common theme throughout history.

@LandofBrickForests I am not being obtuse or argumentative. College is just an expedient way to accumulate knowledge using the work of those who have come before. Not everyone needs to go to college to earn a decent living, but an advanced society needs rocket scientists, doctors, engineers and other professionals. I know dumb PhDs and smart HS graduates. And vice versa. I will never dog on education, I used it to better my life. I never did graduate college, but after years in business I ended up as a college professor for the last 20 years of my working life. I was hired as an acknowledged expert in my field. I helped countless others build their own lives and careers.

@fasttony6012 Hannity's kids are going to college. Carlson's kids are going to college. You can bet Ingraham's kids will go to college. Ted Cruz's daughters will go to college. But all of these idiots will get on the Fox machine and tell you how evil college education is and how you and yours shouldn't go. And you lap it up. Willingly. God help us, we are living the prequel to the movie Idiocracy...

@mccallsensei3293 Ah, I see. This sounds like every generation from time immemorial. "Back in my day...." Pretty soon y'all will be yelling "get off my lawn". It's funny, now that I'm older I do the same thing, but mainly jokingly. I have an awareness of how the same things were said of my generation by the one before it. And of theirs by the one before that. And so on...

@LetTheTruthBeTold8324 Oh that is what was said of Laura's generation. My own father was a Bircher who saw communists everywhere. And people like Laura and the colleges she attended were on that list. Nothing has changed much. There's just bigger megaphones these days.

@fasttony6012 That depends on their mental capacity. College is a jumpstart, an expedient way to accumulate some knowledge. Is that the only way and/or the only learning they will do? No, at least I hope not.
