You missed out on posting a better contradicting verse: Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. That verse would have better bolstered your argument.... I prefer how the verse which shows how Paul disregarded the Gospel of Matthew 10: 5-6, These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, "Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Debate by selected Bible verse is fun! And a good way to learn the book.... it's a good teaching tool. The Bible is not a dead document meant to be memorized, but rather studied. Seemingly contradictory chapters and verses must be studied with regard to how they relate to each other and to modern circumstances....

@melgillham462 It is the Gospel of Lord Jesus Christ. An exhortation by Jesus to avoid hypocrisy by praying in private. Either you believe and follow the Gospel or you do not. There is no halfway.

@melgillham462 Group prayer in a church is "in private". Going to the street corner (the middle of the football field) is for the vain hypocrites.

Context of Biblical verses, when/why they were written, is key to understanding the chapters. My question is why St. Gregory had total disregard to many chapters which had been taught throughout the region. He simply decided to leave them out. Perhaps they did not support the Roman usurpation of the faith.
