Perhaps you don't remember this (late 2019 and early 2020 are a blur) but Trump's Remain in Mexico gambit was struck down by a federal judge. The same judge, in fact, who struck down Biden's attempt at a modified Remain in Mexico gambit. To Trump's benefit (?) covid struck sortly after his policy was struck down and he pulled the Title 42 rabbit out of his hat. Biden inherited Title 42 and was using it as Trump was. The difference being that Biden adhered to our 1967 International Refugee Agreement which allows for asylum seekers to present their case on US soil. Do you know who can alter such an agreement? Can a president just declare a Congressionally authorized agreement null and void? Probably not, although one might try. Do you know who definitely can? Congress. Do you see them try? Of course not. Each side knows the political value of immigration as well as the financial value of immigration. Note, if you will, the Republicans have held the House since January. Where is their border security bill? Where is their push to change anything about the border? It is of more value to them to use the border as a political hot potato. Now Biden owns it and it is burning him.
