The state constitution decides who can be a candidate. She does not meet the requirements of the constitution and is therefore ineligible. Open and shut case really. But if it makes you feel better, the lower court ruling was upheld by the wv supreme court.

@barneybear1971 If she was ineligible she shouldn't have begun her campaign. That's just common sense. Do you honestly want a legislator who doesn't know the laws of the state she hopes to serve? It's not as though it's even an obscure law.

@dsquared341 You don't actually know what's going on here, do you? A state candidate for a state seat who did not meet the requirements of the state constitution for candidates. The candidate was clearly wrong. Whining on Fox doesn't change the law. I'd have recalled any judge who got this one wrong.

And I would say that if you hope to serve and legislate for a state you should probably know the laws and constitution of that state. This woman obviously doesn't.

@CelticSpiritsCoven And I posit that if she knew she wanted to be elected in WV, she should have figured out whether she was eligible to run in WV. She: Lives Works Pays taxes Registers her car And Votes In North Carolina And yet thought she can have it both ways? What happened to the party of personal responsibility???

@cegant The constitution of West Virginia requires that a candidate must be a resident of West Virginia for 5 years prior to candidacy. Kiessling lives, works, pays taxes, licensed to drive and votes in North Carolina. Ineligible.

@johnpoole8321 I guess you'd need to ask Mac Warner, WV Secretary of State.... Yes, you guessed it...a republican.
2
@jdbroke162 Yeah, the old bait and switch. Done by WV Secretary of State Mac Warner, Republican.
2
Write her in.... she's still ineligible for election.

The ones in North Carolina where she actually lives?

Oh, you know, any ruling against a republican is another opportunity for Fox to attack a "leftist judge". Wasn't Laura just whining about picketers influencing the judiciary in a previous segment? What if those picketers had a bullhorn called the Ingraham Angle?
1
@fiveo9127 You don't even know who she is or what job she's running for do you? You just feel the need to whine because she IS a conservative. Because you think all conservatives need your defense because all conservatives are just weak little snowflakes who are always picked on by mean liberals. Grow tf up. Maybe research just a little tiny bit before making yourself look dumb. Btw, the suit was pressed by a fellow republican and the final decision was made by a very conservative wv supreme court. Fox just wanted to see how absolutely stupid their idiot viewers really are and you proved the point...
1
@jeffarnold3800 Yeah, Fox knows their target audience all too well.
1
@jdbroke162 I heard a lot of mumbling whining, but sorry no, I gave up listening once I understood she has no case...
1
@jamesseymore5304 Well, that was Trump's theory anyway. He wanted to override ALL states' constitutions and have himself declared winner of an election he lost. So yeah...
1
@braddouglas7839 I think it's obvious that Mac Warner, Secretary of State (and a conservative Republican) runs his office about as efficiently and effectively as can be expected of a man elected mainly because he is a political hack. ALL OF THIS, start to finish, was about the infighting in the wv Republican party. Fox throws the word liberal in there and folks reflexively begin their asinine commentaries to continue their victimhood ideation. Fox premises at least half of what they broadcast based on the idea that their viewers are easily manipulated idiots. And they are proven correct most of the time.

@theglassmaster3140 Her rental agreement from NC, her tax records from NC, her driver's license from NC, her car registration from NC and her voting records from NC all prove she is a resident of NC, not WV.
1
@theglassmaster3140 It's all on her. The WV constitution says that state legislators need to be 5 year residents. They aren't picking on her, it's the law for everyone. Fox loves to make a conspiracy of things that aren't.

@theglassmaster3140 No, I joined over 5 years ago. YT kicks me off every few months when I tell people just how dumb they are. Tell me, was I just trolling you or did I just lay out the facts? There's nothing wrong with facts, even the ones you don't like. YT doesn't like it when I continuously point out how, when and where Fox lies to it's viewers. I got kicked off once for reporting foreign bots.....now YT is hammering away at foreign bots. I'm just an American who's tired of the divisive lies promoted by Fox, lies promoted to simply pad their bottom line. If I can get just one other American to wake up to this fact I'm happy.

@theglassmaster3140 Nah bro, now I'd say you're trolling. You add nothing to the topic at hand and are now more focused on me. If you'd care to debate any topic I would be more than happy to do so. If you have nothing else if value to add to the topic, I bid you good day.

@randalcquebedeaux314 Time for comments on this thread expired. She's toast, quit crying.

@sofamiller7133 I completely stated how she is not qualified. It is terrible that you have no reading comprehension...
1
@sofamiller7133 Um no, she loses. So sorry. Sucks to be her.

@Constitutional Everything Wth is a "board of elections"??? The Secretary of State handles elections, but disputes always end up in court. If the SoS had done his job in the first place this wouldn't have ended up in court. The law is clearly stated in the WV constitution. Ignorance (or feigned ignorance) of a law does not excuse one from a law.
