  4.  @gloriamadaffari5404  It is curious that you seem to claim ownership of what America is or is not. If you look at the history of this country there has been uproar each time there's been an influx of immigrants. I could name each group and the timing of the uproars or you could read some history. Being Native, I tend to have a different view of all immigrants.

  5.  @gloriamadaffari5404  Migrants are not 5 months old. They are neither hapless nor helpless. I have lived around brand new immigrants most of my adult life. New arrivals to America work harder and longer than comparable groups of native born citizens. Most don't have a fall-back plan if they don't work hard. Have I helped some folks get started? Yes, by providing employment. A hand up, not a handout.

  6.  @gloriamadaffari5404  And while we're on the topic: the US has never meddled into Canadian governance in the same way the US has messed with our Latin American neighbors. Look to what we did in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Cuba...I could go on for awhile. A lot of these folks who are coming here now are our chickens coming home to roost. There's a rule in geopolitics: you break it, you buy it. Our big stick doctrine has helped us make friends all over the hemisphere. And now our friends are coming here.

And I am not trying to sway you, but only to explain how your bad feelings are irrelevant here. By all means, be as outraged as you like. It won't get you anything but an ulcer. Enjoy.

  9.  @gloriamadaffari5404  I would bet dollars to doughnuts that 98% of all US citizens have at least one relative who did not, in fact, "come here legally". For hundreds of years Europeans have just "showed up" in the Americas. No legal process at all. The first federal immigration laws were not enacted until 1892. Even then they were mainly exclusionary laws. Most were race based. It's just how it was. Our dialog has reminded me of a quote which I feel is most relevant right now in this Christmas season: There is no hate like Christian love. I hope you find true peace someday.
