Um, the amount we spend on foreign aid generally is one half of one percent of the US budget. It is good will money to keep our standing as #1 in the world. We can give up the position, but someone else will take the job. Then what?

You do understand that if we default on June 6, the nation's economy crashes and you will not only lose money, but the money you do have with become worth 50% less, don't you? Think about it a bit. Perhaps the debt ceiling and the budgeting process should be separate issues. Want to cut spending? Great, but don't default because of it.

@OtayBuckwheat Let's Go Spring Offensive! The Russian failure should reshape geopolitics, and maybe have Putin back licking his wounds. Or gone. I sure hope the next guy in Russia focuses more on fixing his own country, rather than screwing with ours.
