As in many countries, the largest being USmerica, the middle swamp or center swells on both sides so that clearly (old appellation) left or right are now labelled "extreme" , which is rather f r i n g e or edge to avoid negative associations or smears. In fact the inflated middle field is the corrupt flawed politicians' playfield the people do not trust any more. the political map always sliding to the right, the right edge has a tinge of extrême right, which can be held in check, when the 'center' doesnot misuses it.... for its corrupt goals. And the left edge is not that revolutionary either any more, watered down. Used as the woke synthetic left by the center to gaslight voters. oughgh. In France, the edges are widening again, the centrist borders squeezzzed.
