  2. if you read etnology, "beads and trinkets" are gift , welcoming exchange (think of visitors to this day bringing flowers or a bottle to the host..). It says much of dutch mentality then that it had to be a "price" . The coins, if they" paid" for "right of property", were their- rightly so- "trinkets" , probably added to neckbeads....
