  1. and URSS did not invade nor occupy Afghanistan. And trained the afghan army well (compare with french, british, american occupations). When the homefront did not bear any more casualties (dead and maimed), they left equipement and fuel, the Afghans held for a few years... until Yeltsin cut the fuel (story of tanks and other left in the landscape...) bc he made a deal with US to be the chosen (NorthKorea famine and Cuba hardships without the fuel too). Beware the talkingpoints that do not make sense.
