Good and evil is clearly in the mind of the beholder. But I agree all people are selfish and that comes from the curse of having minds constrained to our sole perspective.

AileDiablo Wow lots of detail there. I disagree with your assertion that the common people were rich in those massive pre-industrial empires. Even the wealthiest men before industrialization lived without consistent clean running water, modern medicine, warming, etc. So imagine the subsistence survival of their peasant subjects, working constantly to earn their bread from the soil. Brutal life. Also regarding India you leave out the fact that it was mostly Indians conquering other Indians while pledging allegiance to the British. The sepoys made up a whopping 96% of all men in the British Indian Army. It was the lack of a common identity as "India" and the incredible diversity among the various races that led to their downfall. They were willing to ally with the white man above even their fellow neighboring kingdoms and principalities.

Interested in hearing how they fill you with optimism. Most of it sounds like a word salad

@Tyler_W Well again, like I said good and bad depends on the person and their culture. I would obviously say it is better to feed the homeless person, but perhaps if the baby is female and males are preferred in a specific country infanticide is not seen as wrong in that culture. You see what I mean?

@pippi2285 No there isn't. List some "objective" good and evils that have never changed across culture or time period.

@pippi2285 Ok...the following is not my opinion but...in times of war rape, murder, and genocide can be seen as morally "Good" or correct by a certain group of people. This I think reveals there are no objective good and evils, only subjective perspectives on such.

No I think the pursuit of money has replaced religion. People think the lives of billionaires is "heaven" and those who work hardest or are most cutthroat will be able to live in pleasure.
