  1. Actually Mr.Z, I have to disagree with you on this one. The Javanese have embarked on a policy of homogenization/replacement of other islanders so I can safely say Indonesian breakup looks less and less likely at time goes on. Additionally the Australians/West would favor Indonesian sovereignty to counter China in the region.

  2. Eh not quite. Britain did not want any continental power to get powerful enough to threaten its imperial interests, it was quiet imbalanced in their favor. The Germans were growing increasingly dangerous to their empire by early 1900s, that's why Britain fought them.

  4. Heck they were brutal to everyone, should be common knowledge nowadays. They did screw up a golden opportunity though. Imagine if they were at least more lenient than the Europeans--the Co-Prosperity Sphere could have lasted.

  5. Actually, I think the fact that they would be powerless non-entities if they broke up actually keeps these islands united. That's the only way they would be relevant on the world stage.

  6. I think Russia and China is only a marriage of convenience. Russia realizes that the Chinese are eyeing up Siberia (in fact the Far East is more well-integrated with China than with Moscow) but they have no other partners to turn to with the West shunning them.

  13. Actually I think the outcome would be far worse had John Brown succeeded. Many more blacks would be butchered in reprisal and even the North could turn more callous towards freeing the slaves.
