Yeah we are animals put in artificial AC boxes and we ask ourselves why we are unhappy
45
Just stop comparing yourself to other people. Heck if you want to feel better compare yourself to people that died younger than you. Morbid as it sounds, all the years you are living are "extra" and you realize there is no obligation to catch up or whatever.

Good, better now than after marriage. Dodged a bullet there.

It's called fomo. You want relationships because you see other people in them. You can live life without it as well, as did many people in history
7
Remember we are all lonely in our minds. Since telepathy is not a thing.

@nickmf8461 Early 20s. I want to wait until I am more mature and know what I want from life. I don't mind living a solitary life if that's what fate has in store for me, I just need sufficient goals/entertainment to keep me occupied.
5
Bro I just have 1 friend but that's enough for me. Just need one person to know I exist
4
@nickmf8461 No, although it isn't my top priority in life right now. People think they need others to be happy, when happiness is created solely within their own minds.
4
My philosophy is this...in a 100 years we'll all be at the exact same place. So only now matters.
4
Eh, having children raises stress levels. Explore the world and enjoy the freedom. Pros and cons to everything.
3
Bro make sure your income is high. At your age that will be the prime attractor for females
3
Grandpa you grew up in an entirely different world. That's all there is to understand
3
While there is some truth to that with the internet there is really no excuse to doddering along. There are so many resources and info out there for free that you only have yourself to blame if you don't take action.
3
Hm you may be bored more than lonely. There are many engaging things to do in the world you can experience by yourself.
3
How exactly is this "happiness" quantified? Because I find it hard to believe rich people can have 100x dopamine as poor people considering we are same 99.9% genetically
3
Good, as long as you're not homeless or starving you're not losing in life
2
It's all good we end up in same place. I find browsing the web quite relaxing and intend to do so till the end.
2
The fact that I know people like this exist is enough therapy. Remember, no matter your situation you are not alone in that situation
2
Good, remember all emotions are in your head. If you can bring about positive emotions without other people around, that is true power.
2
It simply is a gap where technology advance oversteps safety. Future advances will make our body resistant to gaining weight from dense food.
2
Real talk, there is zero progress being made in anyone's life. We end up in same place. Nothing is being created/destroyed according to conservation of matter.
2
100 years before you existed you had no worries. In 100 years you will have no worries. This is calming thought
2
Yes...we are operating on 200,000-year old biological code that hasn't been updated to interface with modern world
1
You get used to the same body when you do it everyday. Brain rewards novelty not repetition
1
Yeah but they don't get internet. Or have freedom to walk outside and bask in sun
1
Why do you need a woman? You can pay for s*x if you're that desperate. You can interact with people online and offline if you need companionship. You don't need a woman.
1
@Evan-dh5oq Lots of food addicts still reproduce nowadays. Evolution has stopped working naturally because we keep everyone alive no matter how sick or unhealthy.
1
The truth is mental illness is a product of living in an artificial society so there no simple band aid that will fix it. Besides therapists profit from repeat customers
1
@GeneticallyEngineeredCatgirls Im pretty sure we aint in the 50s anymore. Most men under age 30 are single nowadays
1
Let's be real in a 100 years no one cares what you did so do whatever you want as long as it doesnt make you homeless
1
Gotta mooch off the parents as long as possible
1
Not really. I derive much more schadenfreude from hearing reports of people who died earlier than me. I see my extra time as the most valuable thing in the world
1
My theory is that people with depression are fundamentally nihilists. Thats why everything seems pointless and a waste
1
@jacob7270 Yes, matter is constant. My point was "creation" comes after something is "destroyed." So the only thing happening in life is temporary phase changes, nothing permanent. You have a million in the bank? Cool it will go to someone else when you die. Just like the money you obtained is from dead people.
1
How to prevent ending like this at 25 lol?
1
It's because we can get dopamine hits from internet nowadays
1
Free in money but you pay with time which is far more valuable
1
@manoroyop12 Young men are low value. Also you're brain is not developed yet, after 25 is when you will finally mature
1
@Kevin_Street Just curious, who are you guys comparing to in order to feel "behind" in life? Elon Musk? Jeff Bezos? Your peer group?
1
Because internet is addicting and less troublesome than talking to people irl
