Thanks for a great video on a different, interesting, and helpful topic! I've never heard of money disorders. In addition to these disorders, money struggles can be common for folks with other issues like ADHD. Thank you!

Thank you, this is helpful. It is outside my circle of competence so I will not invest in derivatives.

The two roots of all evil working together: money and math! I blame civilization.

Don't forget Knocker-Uppers, who tapped on people's windows to wake them up before the invention of alarm clocks. Great video!

Yes, and/or a reflection of capitalism and colonization =)

I would never live in an HOA. Who pays extra money for more restrictions, for everything to look identical, and to let someone tell them what to do? That's like going to work, except instead of getting paid, you pay them.

Very interesting video! As a history teacher, I appreciate the historical content!

@ernststravoblofeld Lol that's what I was going to comment. Schools were originated to create good factory workers and soldiers, to make money for the business owners. Schools have bells and the 8-4/9-5 schedule because factories had bells and this schedule. The school system is more capitalist, especially if you look at college, and the increasing costs and how schools are run like businesses, maximizing profit from tuition and fees while delivering a cheaper, lower quality product (education). Schools haven't changed much because as a large institution and pillar of society, the education system is more conservative and resistant to change by nature.

@musclee-mac8768 You reference ancient Greek education, but that is irrelevant and beside the point. As a history teacher, I can verify that Ming Mongo is correct. The modern education system that we still use today is capitalist in origin and nature. It developed in Prussia in the 1800s and was implemented in the US. It's based on compulsory public schooling that develops children into good factory workers and soldiers in order to make the business owners and government leaders (capitalists) more wealthy. The previous system in the US was mostly private tutors for the wealthy. This didn't make business owners rich enough, and as industrialization and the factory system developed, the modern education system was imported and adapted to make American capitalists more money.

@musclee-mac8768 What is socialist, however, is toll-free roads and the postal service. So I hope you pay for all the roads you drive on and don't use the freeway or send and receive mail. Cuz then you'd be a big, bad, scary pinko red commie.
2
@musclee-mac8768 Of course there are toll roads, bridges, etc. Do you drive exclusively on these? I bet not. Of course there's FedEx and UPS. But I I bet you receive or send mail through the postal service. You depend and rely on, and participate in socialism. I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy. The Cold War and the Red Scare are over. You don't need to be scared of the communist boogeyman. Lol.... lord and savior daddy govt. Hardly. I'm anti-authoritarian. But have fun worshipping the almighty american dollar and pretending your anti-socialist tirade is still relevant.
2
It blew my mind learning recently that in other countries the government does your taxes for you! It's also more difficult to vote here! The US is so backwards! It's all about money and making the rich richer. Great job pointing out the social justice issues and obstacles for low income folks and people of color!

A People's History of Native America sounds awesome! I'll check it out and maybe watch it with my classes. Thank you!

@dontownsend3434 Denying climate change is the scam. Capitalism is the scam. You're getting scammed yourself. Think for yourself and do your own research, sheep.

No, one cannot be an ethical investor. Most ESG/SRI/ethical/sustainable funds are full of huge, horrible corporations. You can selectively invest in more ethical/less horrible companies, but it's still capitalism, which is inherently unethical. It's like driving a hybrid and thinking you're saving the world.

@gammaray152 I feel bad for your narrow mind

Wow, very interesting video! A great indictment of the system. Lol I love Julia's expressions. Equity-mining is a new term for me, but it fits. Damn the capitalist gentrifying colonizers! The recent gentrification is just the latest expression of the white supremacist, capitalist system -- see Redlining, food deserts, food insecurity, etc.

Great video!

I am going to show this to my students soon.

Having kids is fine and manageable... if you don't live in a super capitalist, individualistic, nuclear family-oriented, for-profit healthcare system culture like the US. "It takes a village to raise a child."

Kid free is the way to be!
