Well, this is the first time we're going to disagree. It had to happen some time. I have been a developer since 2001, so I have lived through a lot of the so-called hoaxes of the development community. AI is absolutely one of those hoaxes. Are there genuine advancements in what we're calling "AI?" Sure. As a developer, I even relished in the idea that my job might be replaced by AI – and even welcome the premise. However, when you dig deeper – it's about investor interest. There are so many examples of them removing freemium, adding advertising-supported channels, and removing features and turning them into microtransactions. The truth is – tech companies have hit a wall – and there's no more room to milk the customer without them revoting. Take Devin – the AI tool that was supposed to "replace programmers." It fails basic math, could not assemble a practical website without being prompted almost all the way through. I agree that photography and videography are particularly insecure with AI – but even that, if you have even rudimentary understanding of Photoshop filters, you can easily see how DALL-E is a cloud-based photoshop, with a lot of grayscale hinting. AI is not a complete hoax, but if you think all of this sudden interest by every single tech company isn't suspect – all around the same time, without sharing any code – you are getting had. This is the worst AI will ever be, and maybe there will be a time where we're seeing disruption that matches the hype – but I sincerely doubt we're looking down that barrel. I don't have any line of sight on military AI, or weapons tech – but in my wheelhouse, it is absolutely a hype train. I am not against AI, and have been catfished by this promise since WolframAlpha 1.0, and that was almost 20 years ago. It's just time to stop getting catfished and see results.
