  1. Alan Shteynberg My how you have a oversimplified view of the world. The only reason he had that opportunity is because Martha touched on something genuine- authentic empathy and our human response to children. Xaxier didn't know how to do that, but he sure tried to copy it, and stupid people fell for it. Oh and if your going to quote Nietzsche you should at least read the guy, because he hated people who tried to recreate experience, through superficial stand-ins which never reach the real thing. Martha loved children, and that love came out in her work which is why it was so popular to begin with. She was a true ubermensch, unlike the slime you defend out of lazy reading of a philosophy you do not understand.

  2. Alan Shteynberg What, pray tell, is the intrinsic value of business? You have evaded any substantiated statement by reveling in the brevity of your words.  The article you point to offers no solution, only a definition, open to many possible conclusions. It does not speak to why you think what you think.  If you have to rely on a reference to a secondary source, and are unable to articulate your own answer to make your case clear, then you've done more to demonstrate your inability to prove you understand subject matter, then convince anyone your right. Do you even college?

  3. Alan Shteynberg Lol...  The solution to the problem of what is valued.  Capitalism is not a force. Natural selection is a force. The two are not the same thing. Capitalism is a artificial construct, which is itself, a byproduct of our economic system, which is also man-made. Learn to use better terminology.  For example, foraging hunter/gather peoples have no need for economics because they extract from the environment only that which is required, and which regenerates without any intervention on their part. By your logic this not that (the above) is of intrinsic value, because 1.) it is natural and 2.) it requires no explanation, because this is the way people are in a state of nature, as they are disposed in virtue of their faculties.   Secondly, her belief doesn't require an explanation. Humans do become attached to one another as a consequence of the value they vest in one another. A doll is a perfectly logical substitute for people wanting to feel that sort of affection. It is not subjective. On the other hand, our wants and desires are subject to culture.

Alan Shteynberg I love when people say they don't want to argue semantics, because if they actually bothered to find out what the word "semantic" means, they'd know no conversation is possible without it.
