You can't afford food and rent, but a new car is a lot cheaper.

It sounds a lot like you're saying, "Let them eat cake". That's more than most people in China make in two days.

In a lot of Asia eating out is cheaper than cooking.

Not when you make 5 dollars a day.

@Brofallo Keep those prices rising amd printing presses running and everyone can be trillionaires, like in Zimbabwe, who ended up going to a barter economy.
2
You don't have to guess. You already know.

That's half a day's wages in China, if you have a good job.

@rayc3103 The Chinese don't make nearly that. Many are below one thousand dollars per year.

@AmiaLiu Maybe you have a reading problem. "Many are below one thousand dollars per year."

@AmiaLiu In most of China, and particularly out of big cities, that would be a very expensive meal.

@AmiaLiu True. Gutter oil fried rat/fake lamb on rice. Maybe a piece of chicken like you just earned from the last few interactions with me.

Try going to China and living on Chinese wages. You'll change your tune PDQ.

Half of working Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and have negative net worth.

Other than Japan, that's a lot of cash for such a skimpy meal.

Amazing how ignorant of economics almost all westerners are that comment here. If that dish of food is so cheap, why don't they make those POS iPhones in Europe or North America?

@JohnnyCulpepper-nr1vn If you're sitting at a desk, yes. if you're doing hard physical work, no.
1
@JohnnyCulpepper-nr1vn Other than steelworker, pipeline construction, house construction- mostly concrete, siding, and roofing, digging ditches, truck and heavy equipment mechanic, welding, some plumbing and wiring and also farm labor when I was in high school, you're right. I don't know if four years in the military counts as blue-collar.

@JohnnyCulpepper-nr1vn In case you haven't noticed, there is more than one video on YouTube as well as other news sources. It looks like you get all your info from the People's Daily.

@laserflexr6321 And it does the same thing as one from ten years ago, only a few microseconds faster, with a few geegaws added. I use only a few apps on my old phone that I have now. Their selling point is more bloatware that I won't use?
