Thee is a HUGE difference between "non-compliance" and grabbing an officers weapon. One will get you a beating, the other will get you a bullet. That officer doesn't want to go home to his family in a body bag which may have been the outcome had he been tazered by his own weapon. Jesus, it's not rocket science mate. Get a grip!

@bloozwalrus8859 You left out the grabbing the officers weapon bit.
1
Try to take a weapon from a firearms officer in my European country and you will be dead.
1
Yup, all the perp had to do was press the taser prongs to the officer and pull the trigger, the officer would have been incapacitated and his firearm taken from him. People are clueless!
1
There is a difference between now and "many years ago", times change as does the level of violence. Criminals are more likely to shoot the officer now. The answer is, don't try to grab an officers weapon and you won't get shot!
1
Your "retired cop" dad would not be alive had he not shot somebody when they had grabbed his weapon. Ask him what he would do had somebody grabbed his weapon.
1
@misanthrope4life584 Ask him. See what he says.
1
Grab an officers weapon and what do you expect to happen?
1
He resisted arrest and grabbed the officers weapon. FFS at least get a basic understanding of this.
1
A tazer that could then have been used to disable the officer, resulting in his death from being shot by his own service weapon.
1
Don't worry mate, BLM have your back!
1
" I myself have had police pull a gun on me at a traffic stop for no reason." Yes, I am sure there was no reason.
1
"I wonder what this cop tells his wife and family when he goes home" The very reason he got to go home was that he shot somebody who had grabbed his weapon.
1
He grabbed the weapon, what do you think the officer should do, politely ask him for it back?
1
@poerava Everybody is an expert, until they are in that position fighting for their life.
1
@poerava No idea, but try to grab a weapon off me and I will be the one going home to my family, not you.
1
No it wouldn't, he grabbed the weapon.
1
He was being sentenced that day for a previous conviction!
1
What? He grabbed the tazer.
1
@samaeltheundying Or you could yourself in the officers position where a guy has resisted and grabbed your weapon. But of course you aren't interested, because police=bad.
1
He grabbed the weapon doofus!
1
@ashturns61268 " If My Lyoya had the taser and was planning to use it on the officer, the officer should of moved away and put some distance between him Mr Lyoya" Allowing for the possibility of him then tazering the officer. Don't be so naive.
1
@ashturns61268 This isn't a game, it isn't a TV show. You don't give your opponent the chance to shoot you.
1
@chrismanning1171 Chris, you are wasting your time with Karina Z. You sound like a responsible parent. For what it is worth have a "well done" from an anonymous nobody on the Internet.
1
If you "don't see a taser anywhere" it means the officer doesn't have it after the criminal made a grab for it.
1
The difference being that officers in the USA expect to be faced by a person with a weapon on a routine traffic stop, English officers would not. THAT is why the interaction would be different. There are plenty of documented cases in the UK where firearms officers actions have been questionable.
