In the private rented sector, indeed! That looks a sizable house and likely a nice earner for sale. There are no such issues in council/housing association houses where you can live in the same house for your life and the rent is controlled too.

@mihaimoroi6291 Whoosh!

If only there was some method of grouping countries together so that you could cross borders and work in any of them without a work visa....you could even create a common currency to make it easier. Why has nobody thought of that?
19
Isn't it bizarre that in the 21st Century we still have separate tribes called countries. Think of what could be achieved if tribalism wasn't a thing and humanity had a common set of objectives. It's unfortunate that the "elites" selfishly block such progress by purposely using conflict to prevent it.

RCN have stated that the average is 34k, something many people would be very happy with!
7
I'd rather the police officer found the legal guardian and then conducted the search.
7
@enochpowellslibrarian5595 Neither do most of those strip searched.
6
Would you like to try that again, but in English?
6
Blame high interest rates.
6
"Why, how even do you stand up in a court under oath and "admit" to something you haven't done? I'm obviously missing something." You aren't under oath when entering a plea.
6
How did you raise a deposit in four years when you were also paying rent?
5
@BabyAndlou It got to that level due to them not cleaning it. I've cleaned that sort of level and kept on top of it.
5
@davidlamb7524 "Do you think it was good advice to plead guilty ?" When faced with a custodial sentence, yes. There are many an innocent person rotting in prisons due to their principles.
5
@davidlamb7524 Regardless, the outcome is the same whether you enter a guilty or innocent plea, you still have a criminal record when found guilty and in this case you WILL be found guilty as others have. By taking the deal you haven't been locked in a box 23 hours a day for 3-5 years. I'd rather be guilty on the outside than be guilty locked in a box.

Once she got the court order she is a priority on a council waiting list. That is clearly her plan hence why she sat in the property until the court order came through. She will now get a rent controlled housing association house in London where "average" working people can't afford a house to buy. Not bad eh?

That prison leaks like a sieve. This one is genius: "Wandsworth prisoner Neil Moore, 28, used an illicit mobile phone to create a fake email account to send bail instructions to the prison staff. He was released on 10 March 2014 and his deception was only uncovered when solicitors went to interview him three days later, only to find him gone."

Mould can be controlled by the occupant. The issue is that people think it is just cosmetic damage so don't bother. Keep on top of it until the underlying damp issue can be sorted. Plenty of videos on mould control. An LCD hydrometer is only a tenner from your favourite shopping site. In my case it is caused by the chimney, probably needs pointing and the lead flashing sorted.

"11 accusations of abuse and he's still a serving officer?" From how many accusers? 11 or 1? Context matters! It could be a serial accuser and the allegations are without merit. It could be that more effective officers are the ones that receive most complaints from criminals who use the system to get back at the officer. Let's not convict people on social media without ALL the facts to hand.
4
Yeah I am sure she is loaded and could afford to pay rent and save for a deposit...
4
Yeah because when all your available income goes on rent it is obviously easy to save for a deposit...oh wait.
4
Shame on anyone not defending a persons right to being considered innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. How do you know the women are not lying?
3
Over half had no further action. Do you suggest that "chav" children should be strip searched simply for not being wealthy?
3
@user.0704 So? Do you suggest that "chav" children should be strip searched simply for not being wealthy?
3
@user.0704 A 50% FAILURE rate is not. It is bizarre that you believe the police should flip a coin and randomly strip search law abiding citizens.
3
@user.0704 Again you miss the point, a 50% failure rate means that their "reason" was nonsense and therefore the strip was illegal. Statistically the failure rate should be MUCH lower.
3
According to the RCN the average is 34k. Not bad at all.
3
People rent as they are unable to get a deposit together to buy a house. It isn't generally a choice, they rent and then can't afford to save for a deposit because they rent. Chicken and egg.
3
At some point you have to realise that you can't afford where you want to live and do something about it.
3
@liam-james She needs the court order as it forces the local authority to provide shelter. Criticise the SYSTEM not this person who is merely a victim of it.
3
Calculating loss of earnings and pension contributions should be fairly straightforward. Add to that the loss of equity in the home she likely had to sell, plus a bunch of interest on savings she lost etc. Just don't use the Horizon system to make the calculations...
3
So we should strip search everybody then, you know, because it saves lives?
3
@rickydaley3347 You are saying that people should be profiled. I am pointing out the ridiculousness of being profiled based on how you look. Since over 50% had no further action, then the success rate was no more than chance, a flip of the coin. So much for profiling then, that is how silly your suggestion is. How about instead using powers of investigation instead? Like, you know, how the police used to catch criminals?
3
@rickydaley3347 What is difficult to understand?
3
@pros3304 How is Brexit to blame for the housing crisis in France and Germany? I'm no tory but can you tell me what massive house building program was done during the last Labour Government? If you believe that Labour are going to be any different, then you are going to be very disappointed.
3
@jjefferyworboys8138 Except they arrested protesters that had been given permission to be there. When a mobile phone strap is now used as a suspicion of committing an offence to arrest somebody, you should be worried. What on Earth do you think the concerns are about? That is a very dangerous slippery slope. What next? Arrested for wearing a loud shirt in a built up area?
3
Why assume it was men?
3
With what? The money from the money tree she has growing in the garden?
3
A kitchen porter doesn't get annual pay increases within a band, 30+ days holiday, generous sick pay, NHS discounts, plenty of training and opportunities to jump up a pay band and a good pension. After a few years that porter will not be on the average 34k that a nurse is, not including the overtime, so 40k.
3
@ony583 The new Met Commissioner is a politician. He is saying what YOU want to hear.
3
@myliinhv Then leave!
3
But, but, this is now a New Labour....oh wait.
3
Oh, how quickly people forget how Labour was a disaster for the NHS. As for Brexit, if you allow freedom of movement, it drives nurses' wages down due to greater numbers of cheaper labour!
3
What has studying harder got to do with the housing crisis?
3
You need a large deposit to buy a house. When all your available cash goes on rent and utility bills, where does the spare cash for a deposit come from?
3
A couple of years wouldn't get her a deposit.
3
@jjefferyworboys8138 Except if it is determined that there was insufficient grounds for suspicion.
3
Two bedroom Housing Association house up north. 400 pcm.
3
@jjefferyworboys8138 Of course an apology is necessary for throwing them in a cell.
3
@jjefferyworboys8138 Because other "ordinary people" shouldn't protest over something they feel strongly about?
3
Indeed and people were jailed without trial.
