Civil and criminal trials are two completely separate things with differing levels of burden of proof. It is likely that he settled simply to prevent embarrassment to is mother, the Queen, during her jubilee celebration year. It is far cheaper to end it now than go to trial and it means your private life is not exposed to media vultures. Not hard to figure out that it is common sense to pay-out rather than risk an unknown outcome due to trial by media..

  46. Putin's only interest is east Ukraine, he has no interest in invading a NATO country, no interest in Finland or Sweden and certainly no interest in nuclear conflict. The Ukraine regions have always been his target since his KGB days. He tried and failed steamrollering the Ukrainian forces in the north so will consolidate the land bridge to the Crimean and occupy the eastern regions in dispute to "save" the Russians living there. He will then call that a victory to his people when we all know it was an utter failure. He is clearly looking for a way out of the conflict and saving face. It has been a dismal showing of force from his "mighty" armies. NATO must be laughing at Russia right now.
