I did serve in Finnish army. People really underestimates how much stamina and strength actually plays role in modern warfare. Army of leftists wouldn't even be able to march one kilometer while wearing full gear. Not to mention that lack muscles affects directly on how well you hold the recoil which affects will you hit the target...

@CharlesH-t9r Thing is that women don't naturally get that big. In modern world with PEDS it's possible to make them bigger than average dude who never works out, but in setting where no such thing as hormonal treatment exists it's virtually impossible. At least he vast majority of the cast was done well and seemingly possible.

Because medieval people were malnutrition and lacked education. You don't produce intelligent people except among nobility, clergy and merchant class with such society. Which is precisely why all the thinkers were from one of these classes.

That article about "running around" is just pure insane. Most of the warfare was organized in ranks and files where people stood in their squads. There would be no room to "run around" or "dodge" blows. Not just that but in heavy metal armor you would most likely still ride on horse... Meaning... The heavy duty is for the horse.

@lasko24 I really dislike Hollywood take on battle "let's just jump in middle of enemy army had have chaotic class where there are no ranks or files, but everyone just doing random free for all with loads of spaces alone. At least the Khinese do something correct. They have their ranks and files and then their superheroes duels while army chanting next to them. Or having dynasty warriors level of heroes who just one swipe entire formation down.

@lasko24 It could be done in epic way. Bird view.... then proceed to commanders and the front liners eye views about situation. In fact movie about the alexander did this pretty well.
