Reminder... most of the baltics joined to NATO during that time so assuming that Ukraine would join is actually logical. Also you ignore the fact that Ruzzus already had military base in Ukraine. How is that neutral? Not to mention they were already meddling with domestic politics and even invaded in 2014. Too easy.

That would mean that Ruzzia could take baltics without much of a struggle due to close proximity and fast access to the capital cities. While in case if USA would be distracted with war with Ruzzia then Chlna could expand in the east as well. Same with Iran. However clearly playing chess isn't your strongest forte?
