No one forgot that. It's was their goal since very beginning. Ruzzia was worried that Okraine started to trade with west it's oil and gas. Because ruzzia's long term strategy was to make entire Europe it's vassal nation through oil/gas dependency. That's why the first invasion happened when Okraine made declaration to join EU. This is why intelligent people understood that Ruzzia has to lose this war, because entire europe would be hanged if Ruzzia would win the war.

@BogdanBaudis no, the real reason is because Okraine wanted to trade those resources within EU. Which would mean that European countries would stop buying from Ruzzia. This makes Ruzzia angry since it's long strategic goal was to make Europe it's puppet through oil/gas trade. This is precisely why the war started 2014.
