+Maverick Iraq would've lost even more if Saddam was left alone to rule it. Already forgot him committing genocides?

+Janik Malkovich People of iraq being freed from megalomaniacal dictator?

Maverick "Nope, but that is not why America went to war with Iraq and nor is it proper justification. " I don't give a shit is it proper justification. It's still true. War saved more lives in long run.

A Artisan Not really.

Janik Malkovich STill better to have civil war than live under dictator who did commit genocides. That is like you would stop someone from assassinating kim jong un. Just because you don't like the civil war what would happen in north korea after it.
1
Fluff How about dictator killing thousands of innocent people for fun?
1
Janik Malkovich Anarchy never lasts long, dictatorships can lasts generations as seen with north korea.

Janik Malkovich I'm telling you that it's starting to stabilize after the power vacuum is gone. It's obvious that you don't know much about history of mankind.

A Artisan "What you dont know is anarchy almost invariably leads to another dictatorship." Really, then please explain why south korea isn't dictatorship? OR why Finland after civil war wasn't dictatorship? Anarchism is simply stage where you will see which side has most supporters and capability to establish itself. " Iraq lacks the insititutions and the economic basis to ever become a stable democracy" Oh please... There have been plenty of countries with poor economy at begining that managed to become democratic after instability.

Magicarpmaster Actually Usa kept troops there to prevent that. but people like you wanted them to be kicked out.
1
Magicarpmaster Not really. All you need to do is to have them democratic vote and let them build their own army and that's it.

A Artisan "It will not work if your country is surrounded by powerful neighbours and have alot of internal sectarian differences. You end up with partitioning like yugoslavia." It will work when some of those countries are protecting them. Just like USA was doing. "Finland didn't become a dictatorship because it wasn't an economic basket case that was being kicked around by neighbouring powers as a part of a proxy war." Actually finland's economy back in then was very bad. In fact our economy started to kick in after the civil war. Also it was kicked around neighboring powers. By sweden, germany and russia. All of them used to be super powers. In matter of fact it was russia that instigated the civil war in Finland. "Finland also doesn't have two dominant religions that hate each other to death since the 8th century" Actually we had. It ended after civil war and when russia decided to wage war on Finland. Pretty much united them. "Fill finland up with a few million muslims then give them the vote and watch the sparks fly. " Few millions would be more than our population. "Some countries are just not meant to have democracy. Especially now that the majority shia population want to exterminate the sunni minority." Actually sunnis are majority of muslims unless I recall wrong, and their politics have always been pretty close to democracy. In otherwords they did vote for their leaders. However freedom of speech is something that Islam doesn't support. Don't forget Turkey, they are pretty democratic for muslim country.

Magicarpmaster "Also i remember in the news something being wrong with their ballot boxes." Don't believe everything they say in news. Especially since most news outlets nowdays are filled with propaganda and click baits. "A country can never be a democracy if religion supercedes it." Turkey. "Hell, the us isnt even a democracy, its a republic." People are still voting, and USA has nothing to do with religion when it comes to government.

A Artisan "Yeah well it doesn't even have to be a few million. If 51% of finland's population was muslim and they wanted sharia law. What would you do? Democratically speaking they should get it. But that would make life hell for the other 49%." That is democracy. And your point is? This applies literally every democratic even today, even if Islam didn't exists. " Everyone agrees on the same thing so democracy can work." Eh no? Not everyone agree here with each others.
