@Draerlar Never heard that. I take it that you're ryzky? Sweden is considered as a joke miltiary wise by every Finn, and non-threat. Ryzkiz are joke as well, but actual threat because of their numbers.

@megabazus1775 Soviets goal was entire annexation of Finland. It was even mentioned i their warpropaganda and the pact they wrote with no-no-Germans. Finland didn't suffer defeat. Peace treaty was signed because Ryzkyiez were scared that Brits would join in and help Finns and Finns would slow ryzzkyiz progress toward Germany. Entire world laughed at ryzkyez that day.

sT FG SuperTheory Clan I have googled testudo long time ago, and in fact did repeat that after my previous comment. Testudo in the way you describe would be immobile, and testudo was known to be used as siege formation. Not as formation to be used in field of battle. If you check those real life pictures their testudo is barely even able to move and has to many holes in it that it wouldn't be effective at all. Edit: Pretty much every historical documentary and historian actually shows that testudo wasn't like you described it. CA used the false testudo in rome 1 and changed it after they did actually consult with real historians. Edit: 2 in fact the first search you can find has exactly the same formation as in rome 2.

One of my criticism to this test is that the testudo formation doesn't protect the rear not flank of the unit. Therefore 1v1 unit battle would be more accurate than giving extra archers who can shoot from the rear.

sT FG SuperTheory Clan Archers in front can shoot the sides if they are spread enough. The arch of missiles will hit them from flanks. Don't believe me? Make a huge wall and test it out yourself. Archers from side of the formation will hit the rear.

sT FG SuperTheory Clan No it wasn't. This is why parthians were able to defeat romans. The testudo you describe only exists in fantasy worlds. Legionnaires would need to have 2 shields in order to cover even sides.

It's pleasure to watch your plays and hearing the detailed explanation of the situation. I don't personally play against other players (due to the fact that I hate playing with people whom I don't know), but looking at these battles and tactic it makes me want to do some PvP. I'm now subscribed to this channel.

Only way to make decent A.I for siege battles through this. Otherwise too many options for A.I to handle. Also much easier to create script for fight if it's simpler like this.

@JonTan-z3e "single handedly" Lol what? Have you even read history? They were allied with most powerful nations at the time. Provided weapons, ammunation, FOOD and 100% accurate intel. Soviets didn't defeat anyone they actually did least to contribute to the war. And they didn't "save the world" they wanted to conquest it. That's why they forced the "saved" regions as part of soviet.

@MustachoDude Not really. Normann didn't do anything impressive. Häyhä killed many hundreds. They aren't equal. Not to mention that Häyhä did all of that with basic rifle without even having a cope or partner.
