@None2-s5s they have mecca and medina, that should satisfy them.

@tanime I think who controls what land has some importance as we want to preserve history. A people who want to erase the history of another people should not be in a position to do that. That is why it is important for minorities to have control over themselves and their history.
6
@alzinat43 dude, you don't think we have gone over that? The more I learn about history, the more I see myself on the Jewish side. I have been pro palestine for maybe 25 years and pro israel for 5.

@hxyzazolchak It really isn't. Ultimately the default stance in science is that something is false, but the default stance in religion is that it is true. That is why we have faith in science, because that faith is actually no leap of faith at all.
4
@hxyzazolchak you just made that up. It must be sad to have to deny science as a concept, even if it is integral to your life, just so that you can rationalize believing in fairy tales.
4
@hxyzazolchak "I made what up?" You made up that science presumes things to be true. It is the opposite. In science, things are presumed to be false, but if things can't seem to be shown to actually be false, things are put in the "probably true" category. Asking a "what if question", which hypothesis are, is not the same thing as presuming things to be true. "You are the one who believes in things when evidence and logic clearly goes against it." That was just some nonsense you threw in there because you thought it sounded good. It didn't.

@neilbarembaum1094 "In that sense the state of Israel has GREATER legitimacy than almost any other country." Very much this. This legitimacy is probably what is upsetting so many people because it means that they can't just conquer the area like the old days.
4
@hxyzazolchak but how that faith is dealt with differs a lot. The faith in science is based on skepticism and that it actually works, it gives us among other things these computers or mobile devices we write on. At some point, do you have faith that a rock will fall when you drop it, or can we call that knowledge?

@mikesmithz but the world war didn't change the borders that much compared to wars in the past. Massive empires forming is not the same as Poland's borders changing a bit :). It isn't really just 20 years we are looking at, the last 70 has been comparatively very stable. What we mostly see is areas becoming independent, which I wouldn't compare to border change via war.
2
my view is that you make them agree. Over time they will come to accept it. Don't give them the freedom to rebel. Teach the children not to hae and eventually you'll have a berlin wall fall moment.
2
@EladBarness Not sure what you are trying to say, or what you are asking. I am quite confident that if I am a minority person, I'd rather live in Europe or North America than other places, especially if that minority is native to the area. My point is that we do not want the people who want to eliminate cultures to be in power. I don't think Jews would fare well in Israel if Israel and Palestine became one nation and Arabs moved in to become the majority population.
2
@Bubba___ I dunno, isn't the area trending towards peaceful? That is what it looks like to me. Maybe not in the 1000 year perspective, but looking at the last 75 it seems to cool down.
2
The UN proposal from 1947 or whatever was a good proposal. A shame the Arab nations didn't agree.
2
@neonlost I'd argue that no human can own land, but I'd say that some humans are better fit to preserve the history of an area.
2
@gillps5130 "but the area was called Palestinee by Herodotus" Exactly which area?
2
didn't you lose your home because of the war? The very opposite of the two state solution
1
@mytoll6529 it will still be about who can defend it. Either through their own power or the power of their allies, in which it is still about who can defend it.
1
@mikesmithz iirc things are solidifying though. Borders were moving more back in the days than they do now.
1
instead we got a thinner kim jong-un :P.
1
? odd comment
1
@mike9512 there is indeed a lot one can say. One wild thing is that the Palestinians are actually the ones that claims to have something special that should be considered outside the norm of might+diplomacy. We are fine with domination all over the world, but not when the Jews does it?
1
@fallasleep9472 and Palestine is even worse, which is wild.
1
@fallasleep9472 cringe
1
@fallasleep9472 that ain't it chief.
1
answering and having The answer is not the same though.
1
@plyjhny but the arabs/muslims in Israel are doing well...
1
@plyjhny you say "maybe"? all 2 million Arabs in Israel are Druze?
1
? yeah no I am quite sure we can give credit to religion on this one.
1
it is all power and diplomacy as it always have been
1
not easy if one group wants to kill the other :P. But yeah, Israel is essentially what you are asking for. But it is only 20% Muslim.
1
yeah the war was fought elsewhere :P.
1
@mayTK they dont get to do whatever they want...
1
arabs should stop their egosim and embrace peace
1
quds?
1
@Eafis I have never encountered darusalam before. Only al-quds.
1
@asemyamak3984 2 million Palestinian live in Israel and are treated equally.
1
