MrDamnnogoodnameslef to be a little fair though, that first dollar in income is worth a lot more than the second dollar of income. Like, if I win a million dollars on lottery, I will be SOOOOO happy. If I after that win another million dollars in another lottery I won't be nearly as happy as I was when I won the first one. 10 million dollars would probably make me as happy.

@oxybenzol9254 "All your knowledge is from Thunderfoot and CSS." That describes far to many around here :D.
2
@gasdive "I was going to retort again ..." Well summed up :). It is fascinating to see that behavior :P.
2
@williamgreene4834 "I think that " it will not work" is going to came back to bite you in the end." I bet he'll say "well I was correct anyway, they just got lucky".
2
@CGC but then again, the Shuttle had two catastrophic failures that ended up in loss of crew.
2
@tonywilson4713 the thing is that the people working at SpaceX know more than you, so by your own logic you should just stop talking about this.
2
@dragoncannon so do I, which is why my response is appropriate.
2
Not even this century? Well, prepare to be surprised :).
2
@mralekito it would be fun to see what the world looks like in 2100 :). I for one am more in the camp of I'd be surprised if it happened in the 30's. I would not be surprised by the 40's (although I probably wouldn't bet on it.. maybe) as there are multiple entities moving towards such a goal. If some risk is accepted, it isn't an impossible task.
2
MrDamnnogoodnameslef sure, if you want it to look the way you describe =).

if the poor people really cared, the world would look a lot different.

you do realize that he can quarantine himself, right?

@MadKingOfMadaya for the same reason as you wouldn't play Russian Roulette. It is not clear that you would die, but it is likely.

@CGC "SpaceX remains a joke." Please tell me you agree that you exaggerate here.
1
@CGC fascinating. When will this happen?
1
@CGC and when will that be? The upcoming orbital flight test? Let's say it explodes, how many Falcon 9s will fly after that? How many more can fly while you still call it a collapsed house of cards?
1
@CGC why don't you actually answer the question? You say a lot of vague things, why not put your honor where your mouth is and quantify your statements? Given that SpaceX will collapse like a house of cards when Starship explodes, how many Falcon 9 rockets will fly after it happens? Surely it can't be hundreds or thousands, as that wouldn't be a house of cards collapsing, so how many?
1
@CGC "I have no way of knowing how many times Falcon will launch. It depends on launch customers." But you seem to be confident in declaring that "SpaceX remains a joke."? "What I do know is that SpaceX and it’s stupid ideas relating to Mars and the moon will be it’s undoing." But you can't say when at all? If you can't specify when within any time frame at all and why within that time, you are just guessing. You don't know, you are wildly guessing. "Starship will fail." As in never reach orbit? Where do you draw the line between "fail" and "succeed as a generic rocket".
1
@CGC "Challenger was caused by management ..." NASA management, which is my point. You talk about "... the shoot from the hip methods applied by SpaceX." and then ignore the same from NASA. If you say the shuttle is better than another craft, you have to take into account that it was a death trap, otherwise you are just dishonest. I don't see you calling SpaceX record of human space flight extraordinary if it ends up with the same as the Space Shuttle. Let's be real here. You claim to know the future, but can't predict anything about the future. You are a lot of huff and puff but nothing more. Go home.

What have you bought most of, toilet paper of tin foil?

cars crash all the time though, and we don't stop using them. Failure in space is not a show stopper unless it was a result of carelessness.
1
they know more about what specifically that is needed?

"With Mars, before we even try to land, we should learn how to create giant, self-sustaining toroid stations in orbit. I'm talking 1 - 2 km in diameter. Large enough that the rotation necessary to generate 1G of artificial gravity can be done so without debilitating effects from Coriolis." Which is why it is somewhat depressing that Blue Origin isn't as successful as SpaceX. "Because when people start getting sick from low-G sickness -- and they will" How much do we know about living in mars-levels of G?

@omma911 hasn't he paid more than anyone ever?

support ofcourse. Believe all accusations? no.
