People hear what they want to hear, so something perfectly natural can be interpreted as extraordinary with a little bit of will and unfamiliarity with correct terminology. I see misinterpretations like this all the time, because it is very human. Your idols are humans as well, and they are like everyone else very often very wrong as well.
