at this point I am not blaming anyone for being into that Qanon stuff...

@paramountofpuns6913 if Hollywood defends it, Hollywood wants to make it though, so it is a distinction that matters little I think. The same Hollywood that gave Roman Polanski standing ovations etc. who ironically operates in France, right? (due to him escaping the law in the U.S.)

@Flexible_photon well, they are clearly reacting to more than just the poster. It really blew up once it was released on Netflix, and people had the change to watch it and describe in detail what they oppose in the movie. I haven't encountered anyone who didn't know the motive of the movie, but that matters little when to make it they actually had to do the thing they oppose. I think your framing "... some conservatives would watch it and be uncomfortable ..." is part of the issue. We are a lot of non-conservatives that have an issue with this movie. You are fueling the Qanon flames that pedddo-protecting is some kind of left wing thing.

@Flexible_photon do you think they would like it if they just saw it? :P
7
@Flexible_photon so there was no zooming in on butts? No twerking? "but nothing that I haven't seen on a multitude of talent shows, beauty pageants and social media" Two (or three) things can be wrong at the same time.

@jules05detriment never heard that one before, only the thing about judging a book by its cover, which you do if you defend something you haven't seen.
1
@jules05detriment I am only deferring to people who have seen it, so that whole rant was irrelevant. Do better.
1
@jules05detriment you are not the only person in the world who claim to have seen it.
1
@jules05detriment it was clear, but also clear that it was a stupid comment. You can't dismiss the complaints from those who have seen it by just saying that you have also seen it and doesn't share the complaint. That isn't an argument.
1
@jules05detriment and I have yet to see someone argue against the actual points in the complaints. Funny how that is, huh? It seems like "but they film has a good core message". Well, yes, we know that, but it doesn't actually address the complaints. One thing I haven't seen addressed, as an example, how was the auditions conducted? It is said 650 girls auditioned, most if not all on distance. How was the auditions? I don't know. Do you?
1
@jules05detriment I don't see you making any comment about the supposed twerking. How would the auditions have to be for you to think there was something wrong with them?
1
@jules05detriment why can't you say twerking? "since a tween can definitely be directed to learn those playfully" So if it can be OK, it is always OK? Quite weak argument. So if they would twerk in the auditions, you think that is OK? You don't think it is possible for a child to suffer, just because a parent or tutor is present? "... but it really does't seem to be the case here." How do you know?
1
@jules05detriment well, the movie is French so you should manage to, and if that ain't in your vocabulary I question your ability to talk about the movie :P. If that is precisely what you are saying, how can you also say then that there is no issue here? Do you see an issue with your rhetoric relying so much about the law? What if the law is flawed, as it so often is?
1
@jules05detriment which makes me question your ability to talk about the movie. Just so we are clear about this, you are for underage girls twerking in scantily clad clothing in movies, on full display?
