  1.  @johnblaze8092  the thing is that basic income incentivize people to go to work, as they wont lose their benefits if they do compared to other programs such as food stamps etc. So if you don't like lazy people, you should prefer UBI over the current system. Maybe you prefer nothing, and that is "fine", but you should still prefer UBI over food stamps etc.

  2.  @johnblaze8092  "There needs to be a safety net but it needs to be MUCH stricter" The advantage of UBI is that everyone gets it, including you (I presume), so it is the fairest of systems. You are given a real opportunity to take personal responsibility over your situation so that you won't become such a burden on society. And oh yeah, it is only for American citizens of course, Yang repeats that over and over again. My favorite aspect of UBI though is how it relates to prison. First off, it actually makes you lose money by going to prison as prisoners don't get the money, so there is a real incentive to not go to prison. Secondly when they do get out they have a much better opportunity to not turn to crime again, which is the ultimate goal. Crime is incredibly destructive for a society.

  3.  @marianoalvarez6467  what government bureaucracy? UBI reduces that as it is such an incredibly simple system. "Not to mention Yang is also on board with College for all, Medicare for all, medical coverage for illegal, etc. Taxes would absolutely have to skyrocket in order to implement even one of these policies." That is a separate thing.

  6.  @marianoalvarez6467  what would they have to work with? It is just sending money to everyone, very easy to automate. You can have UBI without free college. Therefor it is a separate issue. You can have UBI without free health care for immigrants. Therefor it is a separate issue.
