@squantohaze5562 why do you suppose it was illegal to teach a slave to read or write? To keep them ignorant so they had no choice but hard labor in the fields. Why do suppose the punishments were so harsh for them? Because the owners need the fear because at one time in the south there were more slaves than free men. This is exactly why peice like yourself need to keep real history out of the schools so you can spread a narrative that is completely misleading to the youth

The civil war was not fought over state rights but because the south wanted to keep people enslaved for free labor for wealthy landowners and sold the southern pride and loyalty nonsense to their side to keep them,

@squantohaze5562 you listen to Thomas Sowell nonsense I see, these numbers were very small percentages, the vast majority of slaves were bought and sold to huge plantations owned by wealthy men. The mistreatment during and after slavery is definitely a fact
