  1. I suspect one of the roots of this hype is the assumption that wealthy people have access to secret or gatekept asset classes that produce enormous returns. Aside from being an early investor in a company that happened to wildly succeed, that’s not the case. Their rate of return is probably lower than you’re getting from the S&P, it’s more about their ability to invest a huge share of their huge income.

  2. Shame too, I really like the idea of a co-op that invests in collectibles. I don’t know enough about, say, sneakers to think I could flip them.
