  1. There were some upsides to life in the Eastern Bloc. As you say there was no need for advertisements plastered everywhere. Employment was secure and basic needs were met, so rather than climb the corporate ladder people spent time with their families. Of course there were also some huge drawbacks.

  2. This looks much nicer than how it was portrayed in American media. Much like Cuba it’s calm and orderly, people seem prosperous and happy. Just don’t look behind the scenes.
