@michelslaura they're but they won't quit bc they hope they will be paid eventually and fear of unemployed is worse than they thought of as temporary inconvenience. It's an unique Chinese culture, only Chinese understanding this. However, I think the young generation in China is seeing through this odd phenomenon.

It is laughable and odd. The fear of being unemployed is greater than what they thought of as a temporary inconvenience. They hope they will be paid eventually. Of course, the bad employers also know this and milking the last drop out of the workers bc they know they won't quit volunteerily.

This is unique in chinese culture, only chinese understands this predicament. Unemployment is high in China, 45yrs old is considered too old to be employed in factory and there's not enough white collar jobs.

Chinese workers are very passive and they worry about unemployment....the bosses often promise the world ie soon or tomorrow.

@stevenjohns1322 the sad reality is that Chinese people save 50%+ of their earnings and the bad bosses (most are) know this too. They are milking the last drop out of the workers knowing they won't quit bc fear of unemployed (just demand over due pay).
