@jinoz8560 That would be telling! But history demonstrates that large scale attacking forces nearly always suffer higher casualties than the defenders. That's why the planning yardstick is always a 3 to 1 advantage if an attacking force is trying to defeat an adversary in prepared positions. Other than localised assaults, the Russians have seriously underestimated the capabilities and resolve of the UAF. In addition, the Russians have consistently demonstrated poor tactical skills (probably because of their use of conscripts and over-confidence), and they are clearly getting hammered for it. There is simply too much footage originating from the battlefield to argue that point.

@hostiles1 We can throw figures around all day, but the salient point is that the Russians are still having to fight, and they clearly didn't think they would be in this position, so long after the beginning of their invasion. Their problems with logistics demonstrated that right from the start. Putin was over-confident, and didn't plan for a long war. Every day that goes past sees more Russian dead and more Russian equipment destroyed. You say Mariopol and I would say Kiev. Both sides are continually re-drawing the map. Your point is meaningless.

@hostiles1 I haven't said the Ukrainians are not hurting. I've said the Russians are, and you have provided no evidence to contradict this statement. The mighty Russian military can't even beat a smaller weaker neighbour. That fact shows that they are not as great as they thought they were, and Putin's plans were cra*p.

@hostiles1 When the invasion first started, everyone thought Russia would won easily and quickly. Guess what? They didn't! They are still not beating a weaker military, even though they have the 2nd largest military in the world. That shows that they are clearly not as good as every one thought they were. It is a 'special' military operation, because the Russians are so crap at being an effective military force.

@oyuk4618 Today's wars may see the use of modern technology, but it all still comes to high explosive and flying metal. You may also wish to apply your argument to this war, rather than waving around lofty generalities. What about Stalingrad, Kursk, Kiev, Minsk, Smolensk, Leningrad, Verdun, Somme, or even Passchendaele?

What a crock. The Ukrainian regular army was considerably smaller than 200,000 when Putin invaded. Are you getting your facts from Russian cereal packets?
