  2.  @fwingebritson  Definitely. But I think it comes in phases and we're about to enter another period of decentralization and competition. It's overdue in my opinion.

  3.  @fwingebritson  It's certainly not perfect but if there's another possible route, it can easily be configured to use it (though it may well be much less than optimal). The peer to peer nature is the key and that's what allows competing alternative services to arise when the popular ones go bad. Imagine if it was AOL or Prodigy. It would be their platform or nothing.
