@fi879 Definitely get an electric kettle. And if you care, import a 240V one and find an electrician who is not too fussy about codes.

@middleneckfarms I fry for 4 minutes, remove, allow to relax then fry for another 3.

Answer is at 1:30. Buy a tabletop fryer. You get your temperature controlability and stability. Fish and chips? Fry the fish first and keep warm in an oven set low. Chips (fries)? A bit of a PITA but thems the breaks and it's just two batches (four fries) for a decent amount. I just throw old oil out in the yard. Something's going to be able to digest it. A fryer is not a specialized piece of equipment any more than an oven is. If you only fry once a year, you wouldn't want one but otherwise, a lot of foods cook well fried. They don't get yucky that quickly and most of the parts can usually be put in the dishwasher if that's what you look for (I once had one based around a glass bowl that was great but they stopped making it, sadly).

@mabamabam I'm wondering what voltage kettles you and isodoublet are using. I'm from the UK and live in the US and the kettles here are terrible simply because they're 120V. I brought a 240V one over and got it wired in and the ability to have boiling hot water quickly without having to worry about switching it off when it's ready just makes a lot of cooking so much easier.

I go to Aldi and they have sliced bread and sandwich bread and I can't tell a whit of difference between them.

Gas > electric for cooking. I don't care if it heats your kitchen more, the aim is to cook, not regulate the temperature of your home. Induction is a good compromise between the two.

I just realized you're cooking on electric. There's your first mistake right there. Get gas. Or induction. You poo-pooed your friend's gas in another video but it's just better for cooking. It just is (a few niche applications excepted).

Now the Americans just need to discover and appreciate dry cider. Even Strongbow turned their product sickly sweet here.

Benjamin Snell Strongbow switched over a few years ago so you may have got the old stuff. Strongbow was not my favorite cider by any means but dry ciders are in short supply in the US (now even moreso). Bear in mind that a typical night out drinking in the UK could be easily 5-7 UK pints (20oz) and sometimes more and you can see that you wouldn't want something too sweet.

Benjamin Snell Maybe I'll have a go at making my own.

@googleaccount4159 The smell of the fryer is handily masked by the stink of the dog.

Shawn Mendenall He probably runs the water when he's in the bathroom so nobody can hear him poop... When he's home alone.
