@fi879 Definitely get an electric kettle. And if you care, import a 240V one and find an electrician who is not too fussy about codes.

@mabamabam I'm wondering what voltage kettles you and isodoublet are using. I'm from the UK and live in the US and the kettles here are terrible simply because they're 120V. I brought a 240V one over and got it wired in and the ability to have boiling hot water quickly without having to worry about switching it off when it's ready just makes a lot of cooking so much easier.

Gas > electric for cooking. I don't care if it heats your kitchen more, the aim is to cook, not regulate the temperature of your home. Induction is a good compromise between the two.
