  1. The ratcheting stands aren't going anywhere. It's hard to get them to drop even when you want them to unless the car is completely clear of them (faulty designs notwithstanding). With that said, you should definitely go with what you're comfortable with.

  4. There are low-profile trolley jacks. I had to get one for the daughter's Audi.
