I've been to a couple of timeshare things (1000 trails and Hilton) and the pressure is quite high. We went in with no intention to buy and held out but the persuasion effort is through the roof. I recommend not doing it. Better to pay for yourself. Even the time you have to do the presentation is not worth what you save. And if you're not completely resolute, you could find yourself with a millstone around your neck.

@windywednesday4166 Yes. I have a policy I never make commitments to big decisions the same day. It's saved me a lot of grief.

@since1876 Worth doing for the experience if you don't get signed up. They know most people go in thinking they won't sign up but they hook enough anyway. Be sure you know yourself really, really well. Personally I won't do another one because the presentation is fairly unpleasant and a waste of my time.

@JamesParus Bingo. We like to do a lot of different things and being tied to anything would be restrictive and a waste of money.

Just a tip for anyone who thinks they actually might want a timeshare, if you look online, you'll find hundreds of people wanting to sell theirs for cheap. If nothing else, this means signing up at the presentations is a bad idea as you're just wasting money. Wait and research. Though I would recommend not going to the presentations anyway. They're a waste of your valuable vacation time.
