  7. Here's the thing though. Most of these people are guilty of state level crimes. The states are not doing their job, true enough. These people are here illegally and ice can not do anything about those crimes (unless they cross into federal crimes) but they can deporting. Attempting to reenter the country after being deported is a federal crime so then the federal government can do something about it in the way of prosecution. So there is a deterrent to coming back (albeit that many may choose to try anyway). That's my understanding anyway.
