It's called foveated rendering and it's definitely being researched. There's not a great need to put it behind the screen though. Possibly might make things easier so could be worth a look if it could work with the lenses needed for VR.

@madonemt The S5 was the pinnacle. If they could have kept improving based on that without removing features, they'd be golden.

@planefan082 SD card, headphone jack and replaceable battery are all convenience or even important features, not financial. bluetooth headphones can be had for $10. Not budget-busting at all. Buying multiple SD cards and batteries costs extra too so it's not like I'm looking to save money there. I don't care about the charger though.
