  1. It really was. I think what helped was that the show was so dense with stuff going on, the intro helped get you in the mood and ready for the experience you were about to have.

  2. It was a pretty bad move. I had not long read the books so I could piece it together but I knew many people for whom it was incomprehensible. It turned out there were bigger issues though.

  3. And, in fact, there were parts where they basically interpreted the books and they were some of the best stuff. Pure insanity.
