  1. I think 'luxury' is a bit of an umbrella term. There's genuine luxury and then there's ostentatious consumption. A pair of shoes made to fit you perfectly that looks like any other shoes is luxury. A pair of sunglasses with a conspicuous logo is ostentatious consumption. Way too much stuff is only expensive for the sake of being expensive.
