@HangerHangar There are lots of good mod on reddit. Though a lot of bad ones too. The issue is that the reddit admins don't have much incentive to police the bad mods so many subs are very toxic (or maybe I could say 2Xic).

This could be interesting. It seems quite often these days that when I go to reddit, subs have been closed due to lack of active moderation. So kicking out mods could cause a real issue for smaller subs. Even on bigger subs, there is a good chance that otherwise reasonable mods could end up being replaced by the bad, power-hungry ones (you know the type). Either way, that could be very short-sighted (but then, that's typical like when they edited users comments).

I wonder if this pushes the mods into employee status.

@raymaster You're absolutely right. It's not really a viable business model anyway. VC capital has been keeping most of this kind of thing afloat and when they try and pivot to monetization, everything goes to shit.

@Account.for.Comment openid was a possible solution to the account issue. It never really gained critical mass and some of the key players (facebook, google) decided to 'alter the deal' to drive their own solutions instead.

Thanks, Louis. As it happens, I am having a lovely day. I hope you did too.
