@chrispycryptic I pay for access. Sadly, a lot of the most vibrant stuff has been cannibalized by web forums. Also the quality of Google access to the archives they bought from dejanews has deteriorated horribly.

@Zuriki09 Ideally, if the design is right, those elements, or the nodes that support them can be cut out. It should not be a problem to have multiple networks (that's decentralization).

@olencone4005 Reddit has an awful system for maintaining long-term discussions.

@jebediahkerman8245 I'm not really familiar enough with it to comment. From what I understand, it's a step in the right direction though.

@PabloEdvardo They don't necessarily but usenet worked just fine without them. Upvotes are detrimental in many ways and recommendations often get subverted for agenda-led or economic reasons. They could always be added as an extra layer though and should definitely also be decentralized.
